FOLEY – Drivers seeking to avoid the closed intersection at Hickory Street and Michigan Avenue are being reminded that several streets near the site are dead ends that will not allow them to bypass the roadway.
The Foley Public Works Department placed signs on Makaira Drive on Michigan stating that the road is not a through street. Dalton Circle and Amazon Drive are also not outlets.
Motorists should follow detour signs for the best routes around the closed intersection.
Baldwin County closed the intersection in September. The site is scheduled to be closed until January 2026 while work continues on a county project to upgrade the signals and add dedicated turn lanes in all four directions at the site.
The project is under Baldwin County’s supervision and direction during the construction phase. West Michigan Avenue is designated Baldwin County 26 at the location.
