A letter from our Events Coordinator

Dear Business Owner/Friend,

It’s that time of year again! We are gearing up for Hometown Halloween. This year’s celebration is set for:

Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023

5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the streets of downtown Foley

Hometown Halloween is a twenty-plus-year Foley tradition that continues to grow. Thanks to all the businesses, churches, and organizations, who make this event possible for the hundreds (or thousands – they don‛t stand still, so it‛s hard to count) of local children who attend each year.

This event is so big that Foley literally closes city streets and a state highway to make room for all the fun. Hometown Halloween is a public/private partnership between local businesses and organizations and the city. It‛s a laid-back event where kids wear their costumes, and the community comes together for a free evening of light-hearted fun for the whole family.

For many, the booths, sponsored by businesses and organizations offering activities and/or providing treats, are their favorite part. Booth space is free, and a good way to advertise your organization or business in a very informal setting. The best displays use a little creativity and provide small treats for the children who visit. This year, we’re going to see how creative our booth participants can be! We‛re adding judging to the participating booths! Creativity is the only thing being judged! One booth will get a special prize basket and added pictures of their business and booth which will be spread all over the city advertising sites!

For our part, the city provides a costume contest, inflatable jump houses and obstacle courses, balloon artist and face painter, a hayride, food concessions and a cake walk. City police and firemen are also on hand, plus extra street lighting, to ensure a safe and happy event for everyone. Of course, the city supports all of you!

If you want to participate or have any questions, please contact Sara Harkins at 943-1200 or email info@cityoffoley.org. I would love to hear your booth ideas, or help you come up with one. I look forward to hearing from you very soon!

Sincerely, Sara Harkins, Events Coordinator
