9th Avenue between S. Hickory Street and S. Cedar Street will remain open except for school pick-up and drop-off hours until Feb. 1, 2020, when the road will open around the clock permanently. This new street is a valuable connector for the south part of town, allowing better access from neighborhoods to both schools and businesses.
The Fern Avenue extension, which connects Hwy. 59 with the Foley Beach Express is expected to be open by Feb. 1. This new connector is expected to provide an improved route for emergency vehicles coming from the beach area, providing safer access the hospital using the Beach Express rather than navigating the traffic lights on Hwy. 59 in Foley.
